Have you ever been put into a depressed mood by something that turned out to be false?

I've been in a funk for the past two days, not sleeping, not wanting to eat. The reason for this was that as a dog lover that participates in several rescue organizations I came across some vile pictures while running a research project into a prospect for one of them yesterday morning. They very realistically depicted an Asian woman fire roasting a live puppy over a small brazier. As it turns out, the photos were doctored. The woman was actually playing with the pup quite happily and was its loving owner. I've just ordered a pizza.
